Multiple report templates for policy documenta published

We created templates the most common policy documents from access control to encryption and malware protection policies to Cyberday. The content of the policy is automatically generated based on the tasks, guidelines, and documentation created for this theme.

You can take advantage of policy documents to distribute a clear summary of a particular topic to, for example, your company management or an auditor. The actual management of the security work is then done through tasks, giudelines and documentation - not left only in the document.

Connect a security system to a technical task

We developed the task cards in Cyberday a few steps forward. New things include:

  • Tasks are categorized to Technical, Organizational, People and Supporting tasks - each having a different primary assurance method on the card
  • Technical tasks have a new "Link a security system" -section, which you can use to point out the technical system that handles the implementation of this task

We recommend utilizing the process description text along with the linked security system to define, what's the task owner's role in ensuring the security system is working as intended.

NIST Cyber Security Framework added as a framework

You can now leverage the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, a popular security framework developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), to strengthen your own cyber defense.

The CSF framework is a set of good security practices designed specifically for critical infrastructure operators to reduce security risks.

Connect a custom task to framework sections

Cyberday provides you with ready-made pending tasks based on the frameworks you activate.

You can complement this set with your own custom tasks by clicking the "Add task" button in the upper right corner of a task list.

Now, in this situation, you can also make connect the task to relevant parts of a framework, if you wish. This information will then be displayed on the task card, and in compliance reports the task will be highlighted in connection with related requirement / control / section of the law.

Set a custom date for first review

When you are setting a review interval e.g. for a task or a documentation list, you can now set the first review to where you want it, such as the end of the year or quarter.

You will see an additional step when setting the review interval, which is optional. If you do not set a custom date, the first review will automatically be set in one review cycle's time from today.

Multiple improvements to Guidebook

Guidebook is the view in Cyberday that's designed for all employees. We wanted to clarify the user experience in Guidebook improve its usability. Along with this update we changed e.g. following things:

  • Training content (e.g. case examples, if turned on) is read in its own modal window, which focuses the reader's attention better
  • The Guidebook itself always shows the guideline contents in the main area
  • There is a search on top of the Guidebook that makes it easier to find the needed guideline if you accumulate more content
  • The left menu shows more clearly in which parts the employee has pending guidelines to read
  • Each theme in the Guidebook includes its own "Read Now" shortcut, from which the employee can access a reading view that provides him or her with all the unread guidelines on this theme - one after another.

Quick search on Owner-fields

Connect a unit as documentation item participant

Now, in addition to connecting more individual participants, it's also possible to connect whole units to documentation items. You'll find this feature under the same "Add people" link on the documentation card top section.

You can use this for sharing the actual responsibility of filling the documentation or creating awareness of important data assets for each unit.

Management for guideline's training content

You can freely manage the training content, i.e. case examples and skill test questions, related to the guidelines distributed for employees. From the guideline card's Training content -tab, you can either add your own case examples or skill test questions and, if you wish, disable some of the  template training content in Cyberday.

Also keep in mind that the training content must first be enabled in Organization dashboard -> Settings -> Guidebook settings.

Add a user silently first, invite later

When you invite a new user to Cyberday, you can deselect "Send the email invitation and allow access". In this case, the user will not be notified of the access to Cyberday. This way, you can first make entries and invite others in when a good number of items have already been assigned to them.

To do this, you need to remember to send an invitation later. You'll separate these users from the "Uninvited" stamp in user management, and you'll see a "Send invite email" link on the right.

Make your own edits in certain documentation fields

We aim to help filling in the required documentation at certain points with ready-made options for dropdown fields or other select buttons. Sometimes, however, we don't get completely right from every user's point of view... :)

You can now make your own, local additions or changes to specific selection lists. To do this, admins will see a "Edit values" link that will take you to view for background editing. Depending on the list type, you can either add your own values or edit the names / descriptions of the default options.

Notify users of correct language on Guidebook

Although invited users can use all available languages on the admin side, you can make admin selections on what are the languages the official guidelines in an organization are offered in.

Now users will be notified of this when arriving at Guidebook, so everyone will see the guidelines in the wanted formats.
